- Grade 1 winner Richter Scale has been moved from Richland Hills Farm to Chad White Farm in Benton, La. (read release)
1-29-08 Update:
- Secret Gypsy, half-owned by Richland Hills, set a Saratoga Race Course record in her first career start, on Aug. 16. The then two-year-old chestnut daughter of Sea of Secrets, out of Miss Utada, finished the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:03.26. Trained by Ronnie Werner, she defeated a field of 10 by 6 lengths.
- Purim [Dynaformer - Kirsteena by Lord At War (ARG)] prepped for his stallion career at Richland Hills by winning the Grade I $648,000 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland. Purim will be the first grade I-winning Dynaformer offspring to stand in Kentucky.
- McDynamo, bred, born and raised at Richland Hills, won his fifth consecutive Breeders' Cup Grand National Steeplechase and was nominated for the Steeplechaser of the Year Eclipse award. Owned by Michael Moran and now retired, McDynamo has already been named Champion Steeplechaser three times.
- Over the past five years, Richland Hills (formerly Wafare Farm) has been the leading consigner at the Keeneland yearling sales by percentage of starters for horses sold. A remarkable 96% of the yearlings sold by Richland Hills at Keeneland have made it to the races and started.
- Richland Hills sold two mares for a total of $880,000 in one day at the November 2007 Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale. Hip number 794, Honey Rose (ARG) (by Lode out of Honey Honey), brought $270,000, while hip number 923, Ravish Me (by Wild Again out of In Conference), sold for $610,000.
- In November, Foxy Danseur, raised at Richland Hills, won the $107,100 Sharp Cat Stakes, for two-year-old fillies at Hollywood Park, by 2 ¾ lengths. Foxy Danseur, trained by Chris Paasch for Charles Cono, is by Mr. Greeley out of Ravish Me.
- Storm Surge returns to Richland Hills after a successful breeding season at La Mission in Argentina, the premier stallion station in South America. During his time in Argentina, the Storm Cat horse bred more than 100 of of South America’s top mares.
- Charismatic Cat, a son of leading sire Storm Cat, came from off the pace and drew off to win a $41,000 allowance race at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans for trainer Steve Asmussen. Charismatic Cat is owned and raced by Richland Hills and partners. His dam is a daughter of leading sire and leading broodmare sire Deputy Minister and is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winners Beautiful Pleasure and Mecke. Charismatic Cat will continue racing in 2008 for Richland Hills before retiring to stud in 2009.
